Triple Towers

.
The basic Triple Tower model
originated from a desire to replace the central pillar in the Mt Eden House with a more curvilinear design. Once I had visisted the Guggenheim Bilbao and 'discovered' the stone clad folly at the southern end of the museums complex, I decided to use this model for experiments relating to cladding and scale as well.

In addition to the standard cladding technique - self-similar, small scale tiles - this model includes 2 variations. The 'standard fine' cladding on the left is complemented with a 'coarse' version on the right and an 'irregular' one in the center.

All cladding patterns include an identical set of discontinuities or fault lines.

In this animated VRML model the irregularly clad version is scaled up to tower proportions. People are added to provide a reference in this 'scale-less' medium.
